HACSU is Tasmania’s largest union of workers, campaigning for economic, industrial and social justice. We represent over 10,000 workers in public and private health, aged care, and community and disability services across the state.

We’re looking for an energetic and passionate person who is excited about social justice and trying new things to join our vibrant organising team, where you’ll be a part of a broader team striving to make workers’ lives better.

Responsibilities:

On any given day, your work may include the following:

  • Maintaining an active union presence at various worksites
  • Recruiting new members and helping our union grow
  • Representing and providing support to members on a range of workplace issues
  • Building union structures in workplaces to grow union strength and member confidence
  • Holding meetings with workers and delegates
  • Planning and coordinating workplace campaigns
  • Representing members in negotiations
  • Participating in negotiating collective workplace agreements

You will be someone who:

  • Has a commitment to the Health and Community Services Union and the trade union movement
  • Wants to learn on the job
  • Has good written and verbal communication skills
  • Is a team player who is always bringing creative ideas to the table
