Council’s Youth Services unit is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced, enthusiastic youth work specialist to join our team to contribute to building resilience in young people across Hobsons Bay.

The Youth Development Officer – Wellbeing and Capacity is a vital role within the Youth Services team. The role is responsible for contributing to the cohesive delivery of generalist programs, events and activities and carries the portfolio of health and wellbeing service responses for young people.

Focus areas in 2025 include initiatives and engagement of young adults (18-25years) and career and employment opportunities, and building on the existing successes in capacity building of other stakeholders to engage effectively with young people.

YOU ARE:

  • Youth Work and AOD qualified and experienced working with young people using a strength-based framework
  • Highly motivated to work directly with young people, and able to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Passionate, knowledgeable and experienced to deliver health and wellbeing outcomes for young people
  • Familiar with the YACVic Code of Ethical Practice, Child Safe Standards, and aware of the role of youth services in a local government context

YOU CAN:

  • Step into a role to create, implement and evaluate events and programs that are outcome focused and relate to young people’s health, lifestyle, and wellbeing.
  • Lead the capacity development and partnership work with other stakeholders, such as libraries, service centres, parents, teachers, and other community members
  • Manage a busy and exciting workload, providing hands on practical support, guidance and ensuring smooth scheduling, resourcing, and staffing of programs and services.
  • Work as part of a team of youth work professionals to engage young people and demonstrate outcomes through your efforts
