Online Communities provides peer-to-peer support via online Peer-Led Group Chats for young people and family.
Online Communities is part of the headspace Digital Mental Health Programs, a division of headspace National that provides online support through digital mediums to young people and families across Australia.
headspace Online Communities aims to create opportunities for meaningful connections, peer support, and real-time discussions about specific topics with skilled headspace peer workers.
The Online Communities team is seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Youth Peer Worker to draw on their own mental health journey and work alongside other Peer Workers online, to moderate and facilitate the Yarnspace Peer-Led Group Chat, which is an Online Group Chat for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Young People aged between 12 - 25 years.
The role involves working with a team of peer workers and requires strong teamwork and engagement while the Online Group Chat is running to ensure participants are engaged, roles and responsibilities are shared, and communication channels are strong for effective service delivery.
Shifts will be available in the evening from 6 PM, when the Peer Chat is delivered (Thursday evening). There may also be non-service delivery shifts available during the weekdays as required. Based on availability, there may also be opportunities to join additional online Peer Group Chats throughout the week (no weekend work).
Please familiarise yourself with Online Communities: Yarnspace (headspace.org.au).
Please note - headspace considers that being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
headspace is committed to being a child safe and child friendly organisation that recognises, respects and promotes the rights of children, young and vulnerable people.
Applications for this role will take you to the employer’s site.
