Head to Health Centre
We are looking for a Team Lead for our clinical intervention services, compromising of mental health assessment and treatments. This is part of an exciting, relatively new, Commonwealth funded Adult Mental Health Centre based in Canberra. The role will best suit an experienced, senior mental health clinician who is familiar with the ACT mental health sector, managing service delivery and supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
This is a full-time position, with some flexibility for the right candidate to work a minimum of 4 days per week.

About Think Mental Health:
Think Mental Health is a local company who operates a successful private clinic, Think Psychology Solutions, in addition to being the lead agency for delivering Canberra Head to Health.
Position Purpose:
This Team Leader position has direct operational and clinical oversight of the Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) within the Centre. The ATT provides a range of mental health services to those with moderate to severe mental health needs within the ACT and surrounds. This includes; comprehensive mental health assessment, individual psychological interventions, a range of group-based programs and a DBT program. The ATT is a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, with psychiatry input and includes regular student (psychology & social work) placements for local universities.
The Team Leader will work closely with the Intake Team Leader and Centre Manager to contribute to the strategic development and leadership of the Adult Mental Health Centre’s range of services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing consistent and frequent operational supervision and oversight to team members, including clinical supervision for students and some staff members,
- Including debriefing and support for complex clinical matters,
- Monitoring clinician caseloads and referrals to the services,
- Including case reviews and exit planning,
- Managing and coordinating all aspects of group program delivery, including identification and development of new, innovative evidence-based groups as need arises,
- Managing all aspects of the DBT program, including facilitating DBT consult,
- Facilitating weekly multidisciplinary clinical review meetings with the consultant psychiatrist,
- Participating in quality improvement activities as identified with the Centre Manager,
- Leadership – leading the ATT clinical staff and supporting them to succeed in a changing environment, to foster a positive team culture,
- Strategic development to ensure Think remains a leading quality provider of mental health services,
- Provide clinical practice leadership and innovation, and performance management of your team and other staff as necessary,
- Program reporting as necessary,
- Program recruitment in conjunction with the Centre Manager and Directors,
- Public representation of the Centre and services provided by your team,
- Liaison with relevant stakeholders to promote smooth running of service and cross-sector collaboration,
- Overseeing consumer relations and records for your team,
- Oversight of case review processes and practice reviews,
- Other tasks as agreed, may include holding a small clinical caseload if you wish.
Essential Criteria:
- Full registration with the appropriate Health Professional Board or Accreditation with the appropriate Association,
- Experience in clinical leadership, including supervision of staff and students providing a range of mental health interventions,
- If psychologist, Board Approved Supervisor status would be an advantage,
- Demonstrated experience within the mental health sector, including provision of assessment, treatment planning, intervention and reporting for a range of mental health presentations,
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment, with strong organisational and time management skills,
- Strong commitment to best practice and genuine passion for mental health care.
Desirable:
- Experience in delivery of both individual and group evidence-based interventions,
- Training and experience in DBT or willingness to learn,
- Experience in managing a clinical team.
