The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation is a national organisation that elevates the voices and lived experience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and their communities.
We work closely with survivors and communities to create environments for survivors to tell their stories and drive their healing. We are committed to the recognition of the Bringing Them Home Report and the realisation of the rights outlined in the report for Stolen Generations and descendants.
We are governed by a Board of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Directors, guided by a Stolen Generations Reference Group, a Youth Reference Group and are led by an Indigenous Executive. With our work informed by the Stolen Generations sector – organisations that provide direct support to Stolen Generations survivors in communities across the country.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Corporate Services to lead the organisation’s corporate functions, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and strong governance. Reporting to the CEO, this role oversees risk management, finance, HR, IT, and policy compliance while fostering a culturally safe and sustainable organisation.
This is a hybrid role based in Brisbane or Canberra, requiring three days in the office and two days working from home per week.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership across corporate functions, ensuring operational excellence.
- Oversee compliance, risk management, and contract governance, including agreements with funders.
- Manage outsourced HR, IT, and Finance providers, while overseeing internal administration of these functions.
- Develop and implement corporate policies, reporting systems, and business processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Support the CEO in finance, HR, and compliance-related policies and processes.
- Drive Indigenous Governance principles and ensure a culturally safe workplace.
Skills and attributes:
- Proven experience in corporate services, governance, and compliance.
- Strong leadership and strategic direction skills.
- Ability to develop and implement corporate policies, reporting frameworks, and business processes.
- Ability to manage contracts, finance, HR, and IT service providers.
- High-level risk and operational management capabilities.
- Strong project planning and management skills, including the ability to problem solve.
- Proven experience in leading and managing diverse teams, with a focus on integrity and positive work environment.
- Strong understanding of financial and business management practices, including budgeting and reporting.
- Understanding of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) and commitment to cultural safety.
- Qualification in Business, Governance, or related field highly desirable.
