As Australia’s peak national organisation for the community HIV and LGBTIQA+ health response, Health Equity Matters supports member organisations working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities, people living with HIV, sex workers, people who use drugs, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Through advocacy, policy, and health promotion it leads Australia’s effort to end HIV transmission and promote the health of its communities.
In the Asia Pacific region, Health Equity Matters uses the same strengths to promote effective policy, strengthen local community leadership, and support communities in their work in HIV, health, and human rights.
The Board is seeking to appoint a director with specific skills and experience in the area of strategic financial management and, desirably, international aid and development and multilateral donor financing (for example, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Australian Government’s international development program administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)).
Ideally, the person would be a qualified accountant (CA, CPA) who can assist with building the capability of the Board and Health Equity Matters’ team domestically and internationally and assisting with the good governance of the organisation.

Directors also contribute to our strong relationships with community, governments and agencies nationally and internationally.
Directors contribute to the success of Health Equity Matters’ members in all aspects of their work, including the wider health, wellbeing and human rights of LGBTIQA+ communities. They are also afforded the opportunity to develop themselves both professionally and personally while gaining valuable insights and unique experiences through their service to our communities.
