Health Workforce Queensland is a not for profit, non-Government Rural Workforce Agency (RWA) for primary health workforce in Queensland, focused on making sure remote, rural, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities have access to highly skilled health professionals when and where they need them, now and into the future.

Our Vision is to ensure an optimal health workforce to enhance the health of Queensland communities.

About the Practice:

The practice is best considered Generalist, providing therapy and support to all ages across the lifespan from 2 yrs to 92 yrs. However 70% of the caseload is NDIS funded early intervention and school age children under 20 years: ASD, ADHD: Development Delay.

They also provide therapy support to clients with diagnosed neurological impairment as listed below:

  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Stroke: Receptive/Expressive Aphasia
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Adult ASD/Cognitive Impairment
  • Swallowing / Mealtime Management Reviews
  • Any other impairment funded under NDIS, Medicare, My Aged Care or Private Health

There is also a high demand for outreach services in the Tin Can Bay and Kilkivan areas which due to time constraints they have not yet been able to provide.

  • New purpose built sound proofed premises with large therapy rooms to ensure the best therapy experience.
  • OT's are also on-site, with an extra large purpose built therapy room with lots of space for fun activities.  The centre plans to secure more allied health professionals to become a one stop allied health hub.
  • The position would suit new graduates wanting to experience a diverse caseload with increased flexibility and responsibility before deciding on specialising in a particular area or an experienced Speech Pathologist wanting to settle in a regional community still close to everything and everywhere. For the experienced Speech Pathologist there will be an opportunity to take over the practice in the future as the owner plans to retire.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Member SPA (Speech Pathology Australia)
  • Drivers Licence
  • Blue Card is essential (or willing to obtain)
  • Yellow Card is essential (or willing to obtain)
  • Medicare Registration ( or willing to obtain)
