Hedland Well Women's Centre (HWWC) located in South Hedland WA, is a not-for-profit organisation for women living and working in the Hedland area.

We provide health promotion, prevention and treatment services in the area of women's health. Our Centre operates under the values of a social model of health addressing inequities for women.

Services include women's clinic, counselling, preventative health and wellbeing programs, social and community events, support groups and advocacy.

HWWC provides general counselling for anxiety and depression, relationships, domestic violence, trauma, bereavement and loss, self-esteem, and parenting concerns.

We are seeking an experienced Counsellor to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for a qualified, experienced counsellor to provide treatment care within friendly surroundings, making a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing outcomes of regional women. Our organisation provides a professional, informal and safe environment for women.

Essential criteria:

  • Counselling / Psychology Counselling / Social Work Counsellor qualification,
  • 2 years' experience in providing individual and / or couples counselling,
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and ability in undertaking mental wellbeing risk assessment and clinical interventions,
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively prioritise workload,
  • High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work dynamically in a multi-disciplinary team,
  • Knowledge, skills and ability to provide counselling supervision, support and mentoring,
  • Competent written communication skills, including report writing and the ability to use a personal computer and relevant software,
  • Australian Federal Police clearance and Working with Children clearance,
  • Registered or registration pending with a regulated professional association.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience working with a culturally diverse population,
  • Awareness and understanding of the issues facing women particularly in remote areas,
  • Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety & Health, and how these impact on employment, people management and service delivery.

Remuneration and benefits:

  • Above award salary with salary sacrifice available,
  • Plus 11% superannuation currently,
  • 5 weeks annual leave/ pro rata with additional 17.5% leave loading,
  • Allowances including remote living and travel,
  • Training and professional development opportunities.
