THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Salary: $70,973 - $76,352 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
  • Location: Chadstone campus.
  • WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
  • Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check.
  • Position Status: 12-month fixed term employment contract.

Join Holmesglen as a Disability Transition Support Officer and provide personalised support for students with disclosed disabilities, assisting their transition from secondary school to a TAFE environment.

You'll operate within a 'Team Around the Learner' framework, overseeing case management for students during their first 90 days of enrolment. Partnering with secondary schools and other alternate educational settings, you'll foster understanding of the TAFE environment and share best practices for transitions within the Victorian TAFE Network.

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with disabilities, mental health issues, and/or medical conditions during transitions within the education sector.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, ability to engage with diverse clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, collaborate online and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Current understanding of legislative frameworks, policies, and techniques relevant to individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver resources and training to support individuals with disabilities in transitions.
  • Degree qualifications in disability, community welfare, or related field and relevant work experience. Lesser formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise and/or broad knowledge of the disability support sector will be considered.
