  • Salary: $63,546 to $68,996 per annum pro rata + 11% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
  • Location: Chadstone campus.
  • WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check.
  • Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check.
  • Position Status: Ongoing contract of appointment with a 6-month qualifying period.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a passionate Koorie Student Support Officer to join our team at Holmesglen! In this role, you will engage with faculties and support areas within the Institute to help First Nations students reach their full potential through further education pathways.

You will provide essential in-class and one-on-one support for students needing academic assistance, including those with disabilities, learning disabilities, or medical and mental health conditions.

Additionally, you will connect with First Nations culture in a respectful and supportive manner to create a safe learning environment that promotes educational success.

This is First Nations identified position and only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This position represents a special measure in accordance with s8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

ABOUT YOU

  • Connection to the Koorie community with broad knowledge of working with First Nations communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of ethical professional practices case management processes for First Nations student support services.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students and staff, sound advocacy skills, empathy, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility to respond to changing demands.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management, administrative, and record-keeping skills, capable of working autonomously or within a team.
  • Degree in Education Support, Disability, Community Services, or a related field with significant relevant experience, or lesser qualifications with substantial experience.
  • A current and valid driver’s licence is required.
