Homes North is a highly reputed not-for-profit organisation with offices in the New England North West of NSW, who make it our business to create secure, affordable and sensitively managed housing opportunities for low income households.

As the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Homes North Community Housing, you will be at the forefront of driving operational excellence and strategic initiatives that amplify our vision and mission.

The COO contributes to the strategic direction and provides operational leadership, overseeing the organisation’s growth, financial sustainability, and program and project delivery.

This full-time role can be based in Armidale or Tamworth NSW with regular localised travel within the Homes North locations. Flexible working practices are available after the first six months of employment.

The role:

The key duties of the role include:

  • Accountability for operational leadership ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals;
  • Review and analyse operational activities through effective metrics to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Prepare reports that provide performance monitoring against strategic and operational plans and KPIs for the CEO and Board.
  • Lead by example, coach, mentor, and motivate staff to foster a results driven culture with accountability.
  • Ensuring effective management across multiple departments within a productive and supportive team environment.
  • Ensure ongoing identification and management of all risks and quality management in consultation with the business.
  • Lead planning and implementation teams for critical projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and lead the implementation through creation of operational plans with sound metrics.

About You:

You’re a dynamic, experienced leader with a track record of driving operational excellence. It would be advantageous to have experience in the community, housing, or not-for-profit sector. You have a strategic mindset, strong people management skills, and the ability to deliver results in a changing environment. In addition, a strong focus and demonstrated experience in systems and information technology.

You will require a current drivers license and tertiary qualifications in a business, administration or relevant field would be advantageous.
