Hoops 4 Health is a First Nations-led organisation that uses sport, culture, and mentoring to empower individuals and strengthen communities. Our programs are grounded in healing-centred, trauma-aware practices that focus on leadership, resilience, and community well-being. 

Our Hoops 4 Wealth Program is an innovative initiative aimed at promoting financial well-being and capability in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Alice Springs. 

Position Summary 

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Lifestyle and Leadership Coach based in Alice Springs to deliver our Hoops 4 Wealth program. This role will focus on engaging First Nations individuals and communities to build financial capability through culturally responsive education, mentoring, and leadership development. 

You will work closely with the Program Manager and wider Hoops 4 Health team to ensure program deliverables are met and aligned with the Hoops 4 Wealth project goals. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Deliver culturally safe and engaging financial well-being workshops across community, prison, and rehabilitation settings. 
  • Mentor and support participants in building confidence, financial knowledge, and leadership skills. 
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with local Aboriginal communities and service providers. 
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure a team-based, healing-centred approach. 
  • Facilitate presentations and small group sessions using clear, accessible communication. 
  • Report on program progress and provide input into program design and continuous improvement. 
  • Represent Hoops 4 Health with professionalism and cultural sensitivity at all times. 

Key Requirements 

  • Demonstrated experience in financial well-being, capability-building, or related fields. 
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. 
  • Coaching and mentoring experience, particularly in leadership, lifestyle, or youth-focused areas. 
  • Strong communication, networking, and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. 
  • Healing-centred, strengths-based approach to engagement and support. 
  • Organised and able to meet project deadlines and reporting requirements. 

 Desirable Experience 

  • Experience working within rehabilitation centres, prisons, or justice-related programs. 
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive program delivery. 

Mandatory Requirements 

  • Current Ochre Card (NT Working with Children Clearance) 
  • Current NT Driver’s Licence 
  • Willingness to travel within the Alice Springs region
