‘All people in Australia have a safe, affordable home and the opportunity to thrive’
Housing Choices Australia (Housing Choices) is a leading and growing national not-for-profit housing provider. Our goal is to ensure that people are housed in inclusive communities and to create homes that encourage a sense of belonging. We own and/or manage more than 7,000 homes, accommodating over 8500 tenants across Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales and Western Australia.
We provide a culture that supports individuals to be their best, with opportunities for personal and career development. We are committed to cultivating an equal, diverse, and inclusive environment for our staff, residents, and stakeholders.
Open to candidates based in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide & Tasmania (anywhere HCA has an office)
At Housing Choices, we believe in creating places where people feel at home—safe, connected, and proud of where they live. Placemaking is particularly vital in mixed-tenure developments, as it enables diverse communities to thrive together, fostering social cohesion and a shared identity.
As our Manager, Placemaking, you will lead a specialist team and engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop, deliver and measure placemaking initiatives that enhance well-being, foster inclusion, promote sustainable tenancies and create vibrant, thriving communities. You will ensure that placemaking is at the centre of our work, including ensuring that resident voice informs the design of new developments.
You will:
Lead the development, implementation and measurement of Housing Choices’ first national placemaking strategy, through proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders;
Develop commissioning plans for new mixed-tenure developments that may include a mix of social, affordable and market housing, as well as National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Specialist Disability Accommodation, to create cohesive communities and sustain tenancies;
Oversee allocations for all dwellings to ensure placemaking is at the core of our offer, including at new developments as well as established sites.
Oversee community engagement plans and initiatives to support our Placemaking Strategy, including creating opportunities for a diverse range of residents to design and participate in design and build activities, drawing upon lived experience of our residents.
