Who we are:

Macarthur Legal Centre is a not-for-profit Community Legal Centre based in Campbelltown. We provide free legal advice, referrals and assistance to people living in our catchment which includes the Macarthur region and various LGAs in regional NSW.

We have delivered professional legal services and access to justice to ALL members of our community who seek it, regardless of social, cultural, or economic background for over 35 years.

Our committed, professional, well-established team comprises lawyers and paralegals, domestic violence, tenancy, youth, and Aboriginal workers, supported by a network of volunteers. We provide vulnerable clients with wrap-around legal and non-legal support services. Further information about our services can be found at www.maclegal.net.au.

The role:

Due to volume demand and geographical expansion of services, we have created the new role of Operations Manager to optimise resources and support the established management team and Executive Officer to whom the role reports. It is a broad role, encompassing day to day management of the Centre and implementing agreed strategies to achieve the Centre’s goals. The role will be critical in elevating current practices to sector best practice in areas including HR, IT/Comms, Governance, Financial applications, and reporting, with some event and project management. The role will manage the historic 170-year-old heritage building in which the Centre operates.

A full PD is available on request. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the EO with governance of the Centre including managing the day-to-day activities and operation of the Centre, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • People Services/HR including introducing and delivering best practice in recruitment, onboarding, training, culture, policies & procedures, performance management and annual appraisals and ensuring compliance with Fair Work Australia, WHS requirements and other legal requirements.
  • Managing accreditation, policies and procedures, risk management and compliance.
  • Assist with preparation of financial and board reports, help managers with fund applications, oversee production of Annual Report.
  • Managing the IT and communications infrastructure working with external contractors.
  • Developing and maintaining promotional material for the Centre.
  • Properties and office management, events and projects as they are needed.

The role is initially part time (up to 56 hours per fortnight) and may grow in time to full time for the successful candidate.

There is some flexibility in both hours and working location.
