We are looking for an experienced and passionate leader to drive the Commission's efforts in promoting and educating on the positive duty outlined in the Sex Discrimination Act.

This full-time, ongoing / non ongoing position offers a competitive salary range of $134,235 - $157,759 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and oversee Engagement and Education staff within the Positive Duty Team (PDT) to drive a respectful and inclusive culture of high-performance.
  • Support PDT members to enhance the development and execution of projects related to the positive duty, ensuring alignment with regulatory objectives and a cohesive approach to stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and implement strategic engagement initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration with high-level stakeholders, including industry leaders, government agencies, and community organisations, to promote understanding of the positive duty in the Sex Discrimination Act.
  • Create and disseminate resources tailored to the specific needs of stakeholders, ensuring clarity on legal obligations and best practices while effectively facilitating stakeholder buy-in and commitment.
  • Provide support to staff within the Positive Duty Team to monitor trends, and strategies, consistent with the positive duty statutory responsibilities and to identify and address emerging issues.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Director, Positive Duty Team, and other key stakeholders on issues that may be of a sensitive or potentially contentious nature to ensure the development and implementation of contemporary and responsive strategies, consistently with all relevant laws.
  • Identify opportunities, undertake, and support research to assist with the consideration, development, and implementation of strategies to achieve defined outcomes and operational strategic aims

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven leadership experience in engaging with high-level stakeholders to design and implement educational materials and programs that promote workforce compliance with legal obligations and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders in the research, development of innovative educational resources and programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of compliance among workers.
  • Knowledge of, or relevant experience, in legislative compliance and enforcement activities, systems focused inquiries and law degree will be considered highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of the positive duty in the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), the unlawful conduct covered by the positive duty, gender equality issues or the capacity to quickly obtain it, will be considered highly desirable.
