Digital Marketing and Communications Officer

Ethical Clothing Australia

Make a real impact with your digital skills. Help drive ethical change in Australia’s textile, clothing and footwear industry.

Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA®) is a national not-for-profit organisation that protects the rights of Australian textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) workers by accrediting businesses that manufacture locally and ethically. We work alongside unions, manufacturers, and brands to promote fair pay, safe conditions, and transparency across the local supply chain.

We’re looking for a Digital Marketing and Communications Officer to help amplify our work and grow the reach of our accreditation trade mark. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a small and passionate team making a meaningful difference.

About the role

This role leads ECA’s online presence and supports the development and delivery of compelling, values-aligned content across digital platforms. You'll craft stories, manage campaigns, support accredited businesses, and help build awareness of local ethical manufacturing in Australia.

You’ll collaborate across teams and work closely with the Operations Manager to support strategic marketing goals. From social content to stakeholder reports, newsletters to website updates, you’ll bring a creative eye, a clear voice, and a passion for ethics and storytelling.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead content creation across social media, website, newsletters, and case studies
  • Manage and update ECA’s website to keep content fresh, relevant and accessible
  • Design and distribute promotional materials, both digital and print
  • Develop newsletters and campaign emails that inspire and inform
  • Collaborate with accredited businesses to help amplify their work and celebrate achievements
  • Contribute to events including Ethical Clothing Australia Week—capturing photography, video and promotional content
  • Monitor digital performance using analytics tools, and recommend improvements
  • Support media, reports and stakeholder engagement through high-quality writing and visual content
  • Champion the ECA trade mark by monitoring compliance in promotional use
  • Support special projects and flexible tasks aligned with organisational goals

What we’re looking for

You’re a creative and strategic communicator who understands how to engage a digital audience. You’re highly organised, values-driven, and love the idea of working for an organisation where your contribution has real-world impact.

Essential

  • Experience in digital marketing, communications, or content creation
  • Strong writing skills – with a clear, engaging tone and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and schedule content across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Proficiency in digital tools such as WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, SurveyMonkey, and social media analytics platforms
  • Basic to intermediate skills in design (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and photography
  • Collaborative, curious and comfortable juggling multiple projects
  • A genuine commitment to workers' rights, ethical manufacturing and local industry

Desirable

  • Experience in or knowledge of the textile, clothing and footwear industry
  • Previous experience working with unions or mission-driven organisations
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot

What we offer

  • A purpose-led role in a passionate, collaborative team
  • Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options
  • Opportunities to grow your skills in ethical supply chains, advocacy, and sustainability
  • A welcoming and inclusive environment that celebrates ethical leadership and real impact
