Are you passionate about protecting vulnerable workers in the local textile, clothing and footwear manufacturing industry? ECA is seeking an experienced Events Planner and Coordinator.

Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA®) is a not for profit organisation that independently accredits businesses that produce textiles, clothing or footwear in Australia, ensuring that their workers are being paid appropriately, receiving all the legal minimum entitlements and working in safe workplaces throughout the entire supply chain.

ECA is a collaborative, joint union and business initiative and is governed by an independent Committee consisting of representatives from union and employer organisations as well as business representatives.

This is an exciting period of growth at ECA and we're looking for the right candidate to join our small team, based at our main office in Fitzroy, Victoria.

about the role

This is an exciting period of growth at Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA). The Events Planner and Coordinator is a newly created role at ECA. The role will have a two-fold focus – planning and delivering events to assist in building awareness of ECA, our vision and the Homeworker Code. The role will also plan and deliver events to add value and support our existing accredited businesses to connect and network. The successful candidate is someone who is energetic, helpful and highly organised. You will always seek to find innovative ways to build awareness of ECA and support our accredited businesses, while working as part of a team to contribute to the overarching goals of Ethical Clothing Australia.

key selection criteria

  • You are driven and energetic, with highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders including businesses, unions, and NGO’s.
  • You have a strong background and demonstrated experience in events planning and coordination for a diverse range of audiences.
  • You have strong attention to detail; you have exceptional time management.
  • You have demonstrated experience in evaluation and improving events.
  • You can work positively within the ECA program team and are always working towards the organisation’s overarching goals. You will actively participate in team meetings and workshops.
  • You have experience using online event hosting and ticketing platforms such as Zoom and Eventbrite.
  • You are prepared to travel across Australia, as required.
