Your new role

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Witness Liaison team as Witness Liaison Officer on a part time fixed term basis, to November 2024. Reporting to the Manager, Witness Liaison, the role will ensure consideration of witness wellbeing through direct engagement with witnesses and consultation with internal IBAC stakeholders.

Duties include:

• Collaborate with IBAC investigators, lawyers and others in IBAC during the lifecycle of an operation on ways in which to engage, support, liaise and discuss tailored support options for witnesses.
• Using strong assessment skills, develop and ensure delivery of witness engagement plans which may include, for example, providing information, referrals, crisis intervention, support pre, post and during examinations.
• Work collaboratively across IBAC to embed appropriate practices in relation to witness liaison and wellbeing ensuring IBAC Officers are aware of and understand their requirements under the relevant polices and legislation.
• Facilitate and when appropriate deliver in-house training on topics including but not limited to assessing mental health risk and witness communication and engagement skills.

Our requirements / Your skillset

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

• A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or similar is highly desirable.
• Experience in case management, assessment, intervention planning, including provision of information, referral, and support and follow up.
• Highly developed interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills used to evaluate issues from multiple perspectives, develop rapport and trust with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including where there are sensitive, complex and potentially competing interests.
