    Full-time (38 hours a week) OR 0.8 position

    Location: Darwin (flexible)

    The Indigenous Carbon Industry Network is seeking a talented Policy Coordinator to facilitate policy discussions, draft policy positions for consideration by all members, provide advice to ICIN on the latest policy developments and work with the Communications Manager to distribute key policy updates to members.

    You will be an excellent communicator with experience in policy writing and providing detailed policy advice.

    Note that this is an Identified position available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

    Key Responsibilities

    The key responsibilities of the Policy Coordinator include:

    1. Provide advice to ICIN on key policy developments impacting on the Indigenous carbon industry.
    2. Provide Secretariat support to the ICIN Policy Working Group, including notetaking and organisation.
    3. Facilitate meetings with ICIN members on key policy issues as they arise and provide a brief at the end of the meeting.
    4. Collate agreed key points and write draft policy position statements informed by ICIN members.
    5. Draft policy submissions on key issues as they arise, for consideration by all ICIN members.
    6. Work with the Communications Manager to distribute key policy updates to members.
    7. Support advocacy by ICIN members on key policy issues impacting the Indigenous carbon industry.

    Selection Criteria

    Essential

    1. Experience in policy development and co-design.
    2. Experience in policy analysis, including provision of briefs on key policy issues.
    3. Experience in collating feedback on key policy issues from a wide range of stakeholders.
    4. Understanding of climate and environmental policies impacting upon Indigenous Australians.
    5. Experience in supporting advocacy on key policy issue.
    6. Excellent communication skills.
    7. A working understanding of the principles of Free, Prior and Informed Consent.
    8. Commitment to the values and purpose of the Indigenous Carbon Industry Network
    9. An ability to work in a dynamic setting.

    Desirable

    1. A detailed understanding of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Act and the Emissions Reduction Fund.
    2. A broad understanding of the Native Title Act and Indigenous rights and interests in carbon.
    3. Interest in Indigenous land and sea management.

    You will join a small, dedicated team working across Australia to support services to our members, including over 20 Indigenous organisations that own or directly produce carbon credits, as well as to provide information and updates to Indigenous organisations across Australia with an interest in the carbon industry.

    You will be supported to work either from phone or through an office in Brisbane or Darwin, with provision of a laptop computer and phone.

    Some interstate travel will be required.

    Remuneration:  Your salary shall be based pro-rata on a 0.8 or full-time equivalent annual salary of $90,000.00 pa, or $45.55 per hour. 

    Superannuation is 10.5%.

    Annual leave is 6 weeks per annum on a full-time basis
