About ICMEC Australia:

ICMEC Australia serves as a crucial advocate and resource in the fight against child sexual exploitation (CSE).

Our mission is clear: to support and strengthen the professionals who detect, report, prosecute and prevent CSE facilitated online. As an independent not-for-profit organisation in Australia, we collaborate with various stakeholders, such as financial services, other corporate entities, law enforcement, policymakers, academics, and NGOs, to develop strategies to protect children from online sexual harm.

Through commitment to data-driven initiatives, training, and research, ICMEC Australia works tirelessly to prevent and combat CSE crimes, aiming to create a safer world for children.

The role:

ICMEC Australia is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Capacity and Prevention team. In this role, you would assist the Capacity and Prevention team to develop projects that help prevent online child sexual exploitation - namely in the areas of training, research, government relations, and emerging technology. This role is ideal for an entry-level professional interested in making a positive impact in the community, developing your skillset in an outcomes-based organisation, and joining a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Policy and advocacy: assist in our Government engagement activities and contribute to policy submissions and advocacy campaigns.
  • Research: undertake research tasks to help the organisation stay abreast of emerging trends. Includes helping to maintain partnerships with universities.
  • Training: assist in the coordination of training programs to a range of audiences, including law enforcement and the financial sector.
  • Collaboration: work closely with the wider ICMEC Australia team to help deliver programs and initiatives, as well as organise and participate in internal and external events and meetings.
  • Project management and administrative tasks: support the development and delivery of a range of projects. This may include the preparation of briefs, reports, and project management documentation.
  • Industry awareness: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously enhance project strategies and outcomes.

Who we’re looking for:

  • A later-year university student or recent university graduate with qualifications in criminology, social science, public policy, project management, communications, an equivalent field of study; OR
  • Relevant experience in stakeholder engagement and project management
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An organised person with the ability to develop goals, plans, allocate resources, priorities and meet deadlines
  • Motivated, self-driven individual capable of working independently with limited supervision
  • Passion for ICMEC Australia’s mission to protect children from exploitation and abuse

ICMEC Australia is a small team, and it is essential that the successful candidate can work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

ICMEC Australia adopts a hybrid model of work, offering a blend of working from home and work from the office. Our office is based in Sydney CBD, but we’re open to flexible location options for the right candidate. If from another location in Australia, don’t let it deter you from applying.

This position is available for part-time or full-time, pending discussions with candidates. ICMEC Australia values flexible working hours, and we are open to discussing other arrangements for the right candidate.

This is a fixed term contract position lasting approximately 6 months. On conclusion of the 6-month contract there is the potential for ongoing employment opportunities with ICMEC Australia.
