About the opportunity

Join our team as a Community Engagement Outreach Worker and make a real difference in the lives of socially isolated individuals in the Boroondara and Manningham areas. In this vital community-based role, you'll build strong connections with people, helping them access health and social services through local programs like social prescribing and care finders. You’ll also support collaboration with other health and community organisations, contribute to program improvement, and may supervise volunteers. Your lived experience, cultural understanding, or community language skills will be highly valued in fostering trust and inclusion. This is a Permanent Part-time 0.6 EFT position reporting the Manager, Community Access & Outreach with the flexibility to be based in Hawthorn or Doncaster.

What you will bring– Key Selection Criteria

In addition to your passion and purpose to support vulnerable people within our community you will have:

  • Experience in community engagement, development and outreach programs particularly, with marginalised and hardly reached community members
  • Certificate IV (Mental Health peer work or equivalent), and/or demonstrated experience working with clients who experience mental health challenges in a community setting
  • Tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work or Community Development (Desirable)
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role highly regarded
  • Proficiency in spoken languages other than English especially Arabic, Farsi, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications

  • Demonstrated experience engaging with a range of stakeholders including community members/consumers and community groups, GP, health services and AOD services
