The Opportunity

AccessHC has a reputation as a leading provider of mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services for individuals and families in the East and North East, employing over 70 staff from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health clinician to provide clinical leadership and supervision to a team of psychologists, social workers, counsellors, peer support workers, mental health nurses, care coordinators, and program support officers. Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health, you'll provide operational support and line management to frontline staff while managing your own caseload.

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership to the Mental Health Team located across Hawthorn and Doncaster sites
• Provide individual clinical supervision to staff
• Hold a caseload and deliver mental health services to clients
• Provide clinical expertise and act as an escalation point for clinicians in cases of risk and where secondary consultation is required
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of high quality, integrated mental health care
• Use high-level communication skills to optimise organisational, staff and consumer outcomes applying professional and clinical judgement, conflict resolution and negotiation skills where necessary

What you will bring

Key Selection Criteria

• Tertiary qualification in social work and current registration with the AASW as a mental health social worker with minimum of 5 years working in the Mental Health/AOD sector
• Demonstrated skills and /or experience in the provision of clinical supervision to other staff and peers, and willingness to seek professional development opportunities to support this skill
• Demonstrated experience and skill in the provision of a full range of assessment and counselling interventions to effect therapeutic change and to assess and manage clients with a broad range of mental health concerns
• Genuine interest in providing clinical leadership to team members, and demonstrated ability to support and motivate others
• The ability to maintain high level assessment documents, client records, reports and case notes, and comply with reporting and statistical requirements
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems (such as TrakCare) and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

Attributes

• Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number and experience delivering services under a ‘fee-for-service’ model (Desirable)
• Experience and knowledge about provision of mental health services under NDIS (Desirable)
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative in the workplace and to work both autonomously and as part of a team
• Genuine passion and interest in working to support people with mental health challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Sound understanding of mental health funding and KPIs, and ability to lead the team in meeting these KPIs
• Experience and ability to assess, manage and document clinical risks (including risk to self and risk to others)
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to organise workload, set priorities and meet performance targets and deadlines
• Demonstrated
• Ability to work respectfully and creatively with staff and consumers from a diverse range of backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a culturally and linguistically diverse background, people with lived experience of AOD/mental health concerns, and people who identify as LGBTIQA+
