iLA is seeking a skilled and experienced Clinical Advisory Specialist to serve as a Subject Matter Expert, providing expert clinical guidance, oversight, and support to our Assessment workforce. In this role, you will help the team understand and interpret clinical information, as well as identify and address clinical risks effectively.
THE ROLE
The primary role of a Clinical Advisory Specialist involves regular engagement with assessors, offering them clinical guidance and assisting them in making evidence-based decisions on clinical matters. This will include consulting with relevant health professionals to support clinical decision-making through case conferences and one-on-one meetings. They will support the team in enhancing their clinical knowledge and analytical skills in aged care to ensure accurate, holistic client evaluations.

KEY TASKS INCLUDE:
- Collaborate closely with the iLA’s leadership team to contribute to its strategic direction, while leading the Clinical Governance Framework with the Assessment team.
- Identify, mitigate and escalate clinical risks in relation to completion of Comprehensive or Home Support Assessments or RAC Funding Assessments.
- Provide clinical leadership, contemporary evidence-based advice and mentoring to other clinicians across iLA to assist them to build their knowledge and skill in relation to clinical issues in delivery of aged care assessments and/or iLA’s healthy ageing initiatives.
- Establish the Clinical Supervision process in Assessment Services and ensure compliance against this.
- Work closely with Clinical and Quality Manager, Assessment Delivery Manager, Assessment Team Leaders and Training and Quality Specialist.
- Provide back-up support to the Clinical and Quality Manager to ensure in-the-field immediate access to RAC Funding Assessors requiring clinical advisory support.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a dedicated and detail-oriented professional with a strong ability to collaborate and lead.
Ideally you will be:
- Qualified Registered Nurse with current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Experienced practitioner in the aged care assessment industry and demonstrated experience in Aged Care Assessment
- Proven ability to train, mentor, and supervise staff to achieve their best.
- Knowledge of clinical issues in aged care and application to best-practice, clinically informed aged care assessments
- Highly developed communication and people skills, influencing and negotiating skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to provide advice and recommendations.
