Are you an experienced finance leader passionate about making a difference? An exciting opportunity is available for a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and provide strategic financial guidance for the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN).

  • Responsible for managing finance, supporting the organisation’s members and managing one direct report
  • Hybrid workplace: new offices in Surry Hills
  • Permanent role reporting directly to the CEO and working with a highly collaborative and passionate team

Impact of the Organisation

The Older Persons Advocacy Networks (OPAN) is a national network of independent member organisations that give a voice to older people seeking or receiving government-funded aged care services.

The network provides free and confidential aged care advocacy, information and education to older people, their families or representatives.

As a peak body organisation, OPAN works with government and other agencies to influence aged care policy through systemic advocacy. With a collective vision of a society where older people are heard, informed and respected, and where they can enjoy and exercise their rights to live fulfilling lives.

Impact You Will Have in This Role

The Finance Manager will be a core member of OPAN’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), responsible for ensuring the financial health of the organisation. This role oversees financial management and operations, governance processes, and compliance to deliver high-quality financial services. The Finance Manager will also provide strategic financial guidance to support OPAN’s funding requirements, including the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage OPAN’s finance function, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, budgets, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and risk management policies.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting functions.
  • Prepare financial reports for government funding bodies, the Board, and stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, management accounting, or project accounting, ideally within the for-purpose sector.
  • A CPA or CA qualification with a strong understanding of financial compliance and governance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Xero and payroll management systems (Employment Hero desirable).
  • Experience developing and managing complex budgets and financial models.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to navigate a dynamic environment and provide strategic financial guidance.
