Every day in Australia, 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer, and sadly, 9 women die each day from this cruel disease. Breast Cancer Trials’ mission is to do the research that will create solutions for every person, every situation, every time.

The impact you will have in this role

As the Gifts in Wills Specialist, you will have the opportunity to take the lead of a growing supporter-centric bequest program with investment and growth potential.

Through the development of the bequest pipeline and strategy, you will use your strengths in fundraising to help shape and lead the development of the program across multiple communication strategies, campaigns, and donor engagement initiatives.

This is an opportunity to build and flourish donor relationships to grow support from Gifts in Wills and to ensure continued and long-term support to BCT’s mission to conduct the highest quality of clinical trials that improve outcomes for people affected by breast cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and shape donor-centric Gifts in Wills strategy that is focused on donor development and growth
  • Develop donor journeys and stewardship plans that are focused on donor communication, engagement, and growth across multiple fundraising channels that include direct mail, digital communications, tailored touchpoints, events and personalised in-person and telephone engagement
  • Develop a robust pipeline with a focus on prospecting, identification, conversion and retention of donors for the Gifts in Wills program, and collaborate with the wider team for ongoing donor prospecting and development
  • Maintain the commitment of confirmed and prospective donors by nurturing strong relationships through personalised communications including phone calls, birthday cards, notes, letters, supporter engagement activities and personal visits
  • Maintain up-to-date donor records, ensuring a data-driven approach to the program utilising the CRM, recording all conversations and engagement activity
  • Track and report on acquisition, conversion, and retention rates, providing regular financial and pipeline update reports for the program
  • Coordinate estate administration and provide communication and correspondence according to best practice
  • Provide the highest level of donor care, applying a sensitive, empathetic and donor-centric approach across all engagement activity
  • Collaborate with all internal teams to assess and identify potential prospects and to develop tailored cases for support to share with prospective donors

Skills and Experience

  • Proven success developing and implementing fundraising initiatives to flourish and grow donor commitment and fundraising growth
  • The ability to develop and lead on multi-channel donor communication plans that blend both marketing and a personalised relationship-focused engagement activities
  • An understanding of the donor journey and experience in creating stewardship plans and activities that attract, engage and maintain donor engagement and commitment
  • High competency and understanding of fundraising best-practice, supporter-centric methodology and key metrics
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal with proven experience in building and maintaining donor relationships through your relationship development and/or marketing campaign skills
  • A data-led approach to fundraising with the ability to use your data skills to drive both acquisition and retention strategies and report back on performance and key metrics using the CRM, (Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM system) to record all donor information and communication
  • The ability to manage estate administration and manage effective and professional communication with legal entities
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, with strong communication and with impeccable personal ethical standards
  • The flexibility to travel occasionally to the Head Office in Newcastle, noting accommodation and travel expenses will be covered by BCT
  • A genuine passion to contribute to BCT’s mission to continue to the highest quality of clinical trials that improve outcomes for people affected by breast cancer
