Impact of the Organisation

Foodbank provides essential food and groceries to more than 1 million vulnerable Australians every year. To do this, they work with the entire Australian food and grocery sector, including farmers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and retailers who donate and redirect surplus product to them so they can make it available to charities providing emergency food relief.

Foodbank NSW & ACT is a not-for-profit, non-denominational, federated organisation that supports over 1,100 schools and place-based organisations across NSW and ACT.

Each month, they provide 337,000 households with food and grocery assistance. Despite Foodbank’s scale and capacity, they are currently only meeting half the need. Foodbank is looking for like-minded people to join the team and support their mission to ensure everyone has access to quality food and essentials when they need it.

Impact You Will Have in This Role

This is a fantastic and impactful opportunity for a dynamic, motivated, and passionate fundraiser to bring your proven success in relationship development to lead the growth of the Partnerships and Philanthropy programs, making a significant impact on the fight against hunger.

As the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy at Foodbank NSW/ACT, you will lead the development and build of high-value partnerships with corporate organisations and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). You will work closely and collaboratively with senior stakeholders and passionate volunteers to identify new opportunities, deliver successful fundraising strategies, and achieve income targets.

We are searching for an inspired and visionary fundraiser with proven success in growing, diversifying, and fostering sustainable, long-term, and evolving relationships that directly contribute to fundraising outcomes and make an impact on fighting hunger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of Foodbank’s Partnership & Philanthropy strategy (major gifts, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and community), driving income growth from corporate, foundation, and philanthropic sources.
  • Drive a pipeline of prospects across all programs with a dynamic approach to business development across all channels.
  • Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with key partners, donors, and HNWIs, ensuring a collaborative approach to fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Oversee, lead, and inspire a high-performing team, ensuring exceptional proposal development and account management to drive growth and diversification of new and established partnerships and individual relationships.
  • Lead on data-driven decisions, income projections, and manage departmental budgets to ensure transparency and effective use of resources.
  • Collaborate across teams, including Marketing, Fundraising, and Program Development, to maximise opportunities and elevate the organisation’s visibility.
  • Serve as a public-facing representative of Foodbank NSW/ACT, championing philanthropic engagement and building partnerships with both new and existing supporters.

Skills and Experience

  • Strategic and results-driven with proven success in growing fundraising programs across philanthropy and/or partnerships, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • A natural communicator who is able to see opportunity and shared value in partnerships with the ability to negotiate, influence, and build authentic relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Innovative and motivated in style, thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and high levels of collaboration.
  • Ability to innovate, design, and implement strategies to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Inspiring and supportive management capabilities, with the ability to grow and lead a high-performing team.
