You will play a key part in aligning HR initiatives with organisational goals, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring best-practice people management across the organisation.

DVSM is an innovative and bold not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to supporting individuals facing domestic and family violence (DFV) and homelessness through crisis assistance, outreach, safe housing, child support, and specialist counselling across NSW. The Impact You Will Make in the Role

As HR Business Partner Lead, you will help shape a safe, inclusive, and high-performing culture, ensuring employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to DVSM’s mission. By equipping leaders with the right tools and strategies, you’ll enhance employee well-being, strengthen learning and development programs, and attract top talent through end-to-end recruitment.
Your expertise in HR best practices and compliance will make you a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing guidance on employee relations issues. You will foster a fair, transparent, and engaged workplace, enabling DVSM to continue delivering critical support to the communities they serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Initiatives: Partner with senior management to align HR initiatives with business objectives and foster a positive work environment
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  • Employee Relations & Engagement: Provide guidance on HR policies, performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution in alignment with the SCHADS Award
  • Learning & Development: Drive a culture of learning and ensure compliance with training requirements
  • Compensation & Benefits: Support fair and competitive reward structures
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure HR policies comply with employment laws, industry standards, and Workplace Health and Safety regulations
  • Work Health and Safety (WHS): Responsible for health and safety compliance in accordance with WHS legislation including leading annual audits and WHS committee

To Succeed in This Role, You Will Have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a strong background in employee relations, talent management, and organisational development
  • Proven experience as an HR business partner, with the ability to align HR strategy with business objectives
  • Proficiency in HR software (e.g., HRIS, performance management systems) and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Employment Hero, KeyPay, and Go1 is highly regarded
  • Knowledge of employment laws, WHS regulations, and HR best practices
  • Familiarity with the SCHADS Award is highly regarded
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to analyse HR data and metrics to make informed decisions
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
