About the Role

Due to the exciting growth of the Foundation, this newly created role is essential in promoting the Foundation’s brand by creating content and delivering campaigns that inspire and foster positive engagement with stakeholders to support fundraising.

The Marketing and Communication Manager is a versatile position responsible for leading the ideation, creation, and delivery of diverse content across multiple channels, including print and digital (social media/website/email marketing). This is a hands-on role ideal for a skilled writer with a keen eye for attention to detail.

This role is perfect for someone who is highly self-driven, confident in being accountable and thrives in a small team environment. We’re seeking a proactive individual who can take initiative and is eager to integrate and build relationships within the hospital setting. This position plays a key role in strengthening the organisation’s presence within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with a small team to define fundraising appeal themes, messages, and communication channels.
  • Draft creative/media briefs and source stories for donor communications, ensuring approvals.
  • Oversee the creation of direct mail, eDM, and social media content in line with brand guidelines.
  • Conduct interviews and source images/videos to create engaging content for appeals.
  • Maintain and update accurate content on the website.
  • Support content development for events, case studies, program updates, and news stories.
  • Build and deliver a social media strategy and calendar to boost engagement and followers.
  • Create digital donor journeys to increase engagement using Salesforce.
  • Develop and create reports, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and other marketing materials.
  • Oversee the production of merchandise, banners, and signage.
  • Write media releases for key events and work with the Sydney Eye Hospital Media team as needed.
  • Support fundraising events and galas as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in marketing, communications or similar.
  • Proficient in creating compelling content for websites, collateral, blogs, emails, and ads.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and engage different stakeholders.
  • Experience developing marketing materials and working with and managing external suppliers.
  • Ability to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders for content.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to work independently.
  • An eye for design and experience with Canva or InDesign.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar.
  • A passion to support this wonderful Foundation’s work, raising funds to ensure that all patients receive excellence in eye care.
