  • Fixed Term, 13 Month Contract – Lead and mentor a team of four Philanthropy Officers who are engaged to grow and nurture relationships with major donors, mid value donors and bequest donors

Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international mission agency in Australia, an organisation that partners with communities around the world helping them to flourish by supporting grassroots projects. They contribute funding and provide project support to critical church-run initiatives in Africa, Asia, Oceania and South America as well as remote dioceses within Australia.

Impact you will have in this role

This is a wonderful leadership opportunity for a fundraising professional who is excited to lead, mentor and support a passionate team of Philanthropy Officers driving positive change through engaging in relationships with donors across mid value, major gift and bequest portfolios.

Your main focus will be to support, inspire and develop relationships with your team to build strong relationships with new and existing supporters, aiming to grow Catholic Mission’s fundraising support while aligning with the organisation’s core values.

This is a great opportunity for an inspiring fundraising leader to guide and motivate a team while fostering collaboration, growth, and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting, mentoring, and positively influencing a team of Philanthropy Officers to identify, nurture, and grow donor relations from mid-level donors and major givers, and through to confirmed bequestors
  • Work with the team based across the country to drive engagement with donors at multiple stages of their engagement journey
  • Support the team to engage in activities across the donor base to include visits, calls, and events, to nurture key donor relationships and provide opportunities to meaningfully connect with donors, bequestors, and prospects
  • In collaboration with the team, engage in an annual calendar of strategic engagement activities to grow donor relationships
  • Oversee the consistency of communication to donors that enhances engagement and commitment, including annual reports, proposals, updates and personal stewardship communication
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning, budgeting, and related organisational activities

Skills and Experience

  • A background in fundraising, major gifts, or bequest fundraising with relevant experience in fundraising leadership positions, or the ability to step up into a leadership role
  • Ability to articulate vision, goals, and strategies clearly to the team while supporting them in their roles to prospect, pitch, and develop engaging relationships with donors
  • An inspiring and supportive leadership style, supporting a team at different stages of their career
  • Proven success and experience in a high-touch relationship development position, working closely with a team and donors to meet outcomes
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including an ability to establish rapport with donors, potential donors, bequestors, business executives, the team and accomplished entrepreneurs, in addition to church leaders
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in relation to time management, multi-tasking, prioritising tasks
  • The ability to make strategic data driven decisions using Salesforce
  • Ability to travel to support the team based outside of Sydney
  • Understanding and appreciation of the role of the Catholic Church in mission
