Impact You Will Have in This Role

As the Volunteer Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and growing Foodbank NSW & ACT’s volunteer program. You’ll lead with integrity and passion, shaping the experience of both individual and corporate volunteers while ensuring that all engagement is aligned with organisational goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role that balances strategic planning with daily coordination and support. You'll collaborate across departments to plan volunteer needs, maintain a safe and respectful work environment, and promote the critical role volunteers play in achieving Foodbank’s objectives.

You’ll also represent Foodbank in external volunteer networks and work closely with key partners to ensure a high-quality, meaningful volunteering experience that demonstrates professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee all aspects of the volunteer program – including strategy, daily operations, and long-term growth
  • Collaborate across departments to forecast volunteer needs and align support with workload demands
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff and volunteer supervisors supporting volunteer delivery
  • Maintain strong relationships with corporate partners and promote Foodbank’s brand through volunteering
  • Ensure safe and welcoming volunteer spaces and oversee WHS inductions and compliance processes
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to volunteering
  • Lead volunteer recruitment, induction, engagement, and recognition initiatives
  • Monitor and report on volunteer participation, feedback, and sector trends
  • Represent Foodbank in sector networks and contribute to continuous improvement in volunteer engagement
  • Support a diverse and inclusive team of volunteers, ensuring respectful and productive engagement

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer coordination or stakeholder engagement, ideally with both individuals and corporate groups
  • Knowledge of volunteer legislation and the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement is essential
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills, including experience with CRM systems (Salesforce desirable)
  • Experience in program design, policy development, and outcome reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills with the ability to engage with people from all backgrounds
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and departments, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve shared goals
  • Current Working With Children Check and willingness to undergo police and medical checks
