We are seeking a passionate, experienced and qualified HPO to work in our local Yarra Ranges Community. Working mainly from our Lilydale site, this role also has some working from home options.

About the role
Health promotion is a key component of the services provided by Inspiro and is primarily supported by Department of Health funding stream.
Inspiro’s Integrated Health Promotion Plan (IHP) 2021 - 2025 provides strategic direction to the organisation, our partners and the community related to our priority areas. The current Integrated Health Promotion plan has a majority focus on the following two priority areas:
- Healthy Eating
- Active Living
- E-Cigarettes and Tobacco
The primary objective of the Health Promotion Officer position is to facilitate the provision of evidence-based health promotion practice, under the health promotion priority area of Healthy Eating, including the Smiles for Miles program with opportunities to facilitate project work in other priorities.
In the role you will:
- Plan, implement and evaluate relevant strategies, as identified in Inspiro’s IHP plan
- Participate in the development of health promotion priorities that reflect community needs and strategic directions of the organisation and regional priority areas
- Strengthen strategic and collaborative relationships within and across the Shire of YarraRanges with local service providers and community groups relevant to the Active Living priority area
- Identify and source suitable funding opportunities for health promotion strategies
- Keep abreast of current policies and developments in health promotion and public health
- Develop project plans consistent with the principles, goals and objectives of the Integrated Health Promotion plan and other policy directions
- Prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, discussion papers and correspondence as required
- Represent the organisation at meetings relevant to priorities, from a health promotion perspective
- Participate within Inspiro reporting requirement processes, including statistical recording and provision of written plans/reports.
About you, you will have:
- A tertiary or post graduate qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health or related discipline, with demonstrated experience in the field.
- Knowledge and / or experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based health promotion initiatives.
- Strong understanding of the social model of health, and the determinants of health and their impact on populations.
- Understanding of the principles and practices of Health Promotion within a community health setting.
- Demonstrated initiative, innovation and ability to contribute to the development of new health promotion initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with a range of key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work both within a team environment as well as the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including capacity to utilise IT systems.
