Remote / Work from Home
Established in September 2021, by a group of invertebrate biologists, Invertebrates Australia is a registered charity and Australian not-for-profit. A first of its kind in Australia, this environmental charity has a sole focus on science-based activities to manage and conserve Australian invertebrates.
The establishment of our organisation was driven by our collective awareness of the urgent need to tackle the challenges facing invertebrate management and conservation in Australia. We facilitate, conduct and promote invertebrate-focused conservation activities. Our founders come from universities, museums, and zoos around Australia.
We are looking for a Bookkeeper to join us at this exciting and impactful time during our growth, to support the organisation with managing accounts and payroll. This is a new role for Invertebrates Australia and will report to the Business Manager, who has been undertaking this work until now. Whilst we operate with a large volunteer base, we maintain a small monthly payroll. As such, we estimate that the role will only require a maximum of 5 hours per week.
Our people are located all across Australia which means we operate remotely at all levels of the organisation. It's the perfect gig for those who want to work-from-home!
To be successful in this position you will have previous experience with bookkeeping and can independently navigate accounting systems such as Xero, or similar. A sound understanding of data integrity and quality, accounting principles and payroll processes is essential.
Additionally, the following skills are desirable:
