OVERVIEW
Invictus Australia (IA) is a national not-for-profit organisation, established as a legacy of the 2018 Invictus Games, and unleashes the power of sport to empower the Australian Defence Community, mentally, physically and socially.
At Invictus Australia we:
- Partner with national sporting organisations and peak bodies to jointly open up opportunities, break down barriers and roll out initiatives tailored to veterans and their families
- Support the delivery of sport and recreation in local communities, working alongside other organisations on the ground to help veterans of all abilities to access and take advantage of opportunities
- Work with the Australian Defence Force to deliver the national ADF Adaptive Sport Program for veterans who are wounded, injured or ill – including supporting the Australian Invictus Games and Warrior Games teams
- Advocate for the important role that sport can play in the lives of veterans and their families
ROLE PURPOSE
Invictus Australia’s Marketing Manager will be a key member of the Marketing Team reporting to the Director, Strategic Partnerships and Brand. There in one direct report.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of IA’s marketing, brand and communications. They will also work with the Director, Strategic Partnerships and Brand to play a supporting role in the development of commercial, partnership and fundraising initiatives, and manage marketing outputs for sponsors.
We’re looking for a versatile candidate with extensive experience in developing and executing marketing and communications campaigns, proficiency with various data, CRM and marketing software platforms to drive efficiency, great relationship skills, and someone that will enjoy managing and inspiring a team. The candidate should be equally proficient with day-to-day marketing activities and long-term strategising, and have strong time management skills to meet Invictus Australia’s range of priorities and changing needs.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the development and delivery of a marketing (and communications) plan
- Overseeing and developing the brand
- Collaborate on positioning, identify target audiences, and develop marketing and content plans with specific objectives across different channels and segments
- Overseeing the communications channels, in particular digital platforms with the support of the Digital Marketing & Social Media Coordinator
- Develop creative briefs and guide direction to meet objectives for all public-facing communications, including print, digital, and video assets
- Overseeing marketing-related databases, segmentation and tailored communications
- Developing and delivering campaigns, projects and events for a range of stakeholders
- Managing our approach to media and public relations, with the support of our PR agency
- Managing assigned budget and contribute to the budget setting and management processes
- Support the development and delivery of commercial, fundraising and other revenue strategies, driven by the Director, Strategic Partnerships
- Managing and developing marketing relationships and initiatives with stakeholders, including corporate partners
- Managing contracts and agencies/providers
- Managing a communications plan and team to deliver objectives and outputs during international events such as the Invictus Games
- Providing input and support to the broader activities of IA
- Monitor and report on progress and contribute to broader organisational reporting
- Undertake other duties as requested by your line manager from time to time

SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum 5 years marketing experience
- Minimum 3 years people management experience
- Be tertiary qualified, preferably in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations
- Proven success and experience in marketing campaign development, digital and social media strategy and engagement, PR, website management and other marcomms skills
- Have experience in brand management and development
- Expertise with marketing automation and CRM tools
- Have experience in contributing to successful revenue generation campaigns and strategies
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to actively seek out and promote opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to network and make connections with a range of organisations and individuals
- An appreciation of the power of sport and recreation to positively impact lives

The Invictus Australia team is based in Sydney and operates a hybrid working model whereby some days are in an office environment, and some are from home.
