ABOUT THE IRISH SUPPORT AGENCY

We are a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1995 to promote a sense of connection, social inclusion and health and well-being programs to the extended Irish Community in NSW, while providing them with confidential, sympathetic and caring support in times of crisis and distress.

We provide assistance to a diverse range of clients with complex issues including homelessness, financial difficulty, domestic violence, family breakdown, illness, injury and mental health problems.

We also deliver a range of engaging programs for the wider Irish community including Mental Health First Aid Training, information workshops, social programs and community events.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are recruiting a part-time Outreach Worker (20 hours).

The role is an interesting and varied one, so we are searching for someone with a flexible, can-do attitude.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • To provide high-level support to new and existing clients of the Irish Support Agency.
  • Ensure client assessment and delivery of support are in line with policies, procedures and funding requirements.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to ensure effective holistic services for clients and prioritise support from local and statutory services.
  • Advocate on behalf of our clients in dealing with government and non-government organisations.
  • Attend interagency case meetings to ensure that there is a coordinated approach amongst service providers regarding the case planning process.
  • Visit clients in a diverse range of settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, detention centres, and prisons.
  • Contribute to and attend functions that are hosted by the Irish Support Agency.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A sound understanding of Irish culture in a New South Wales and Australian context.
  • A strong "can-do" attitude that shows flexibility, adaptability, and commitment to a strong team environment with a proactive, solution-focused approach to issue management.
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills.
  • High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people, organisations and stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current NSW driver’s license with access to your own vehicle.

Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience.
