As a result, the ability to communicate in a second language is desirable but not mandatory.

The Mobile Support and Housing Worker is required to work as a member of a team supporting and empowering women and their children who are in crisis as a result of domestic violence. The worker will provide Information, Support and Advocacy to women and children residing in IWAA’s refuge as well as mobile support to women and children at risk within the community.

Our DFV team is currently seeking a Mobile Support and Housing Officer who will be working as members of a team supporting and empowering women and their children who are in crisis as a result of domestic violence. In this role your duties will fall within the areas of intake and assessment, provision of emotional support to women and children, case management plans, advocacy and support and housing support.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work or demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of domestic violence on women and children and the ability to respond effectively in a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in crisis intervention and in crisis situations, with women and children escaping domestic violence with a case management framework.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to acquire, legislation and legal processes relevant to a D.V. service and the skills to liaise with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using computers, including accurate data entry and the ability to learn new data entry platforms and databases.
  • An ability to communicate and be non-judgmental with people from diverse background
  • High level written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
