Jawun is a not-for-profit organisation that leverages the capabilities of corporate, government and philanthropic Australia to support Indigenous-led development. Guided by the strategies of Indigenous leaders and organisations, Jawun works to build the capacity of Indigenous organisations to drive positive social impact at community-level.

Due to an internal promotion, Jawun is seeking a Partnership Manager to develop current and seek new partnerships that will contribute to drive outcomes for Jawun’s Indigenous partners.

How you will contribute:

With over 30 Capability partners (mostly corporate and government organisations), effective relationships with these partners is key to Jawun’s strategy. The Partnership Manager will work with the General Manager, Partner Engagement to develop new and nurture existing Capability partnerships.

This role will manage new business opportunities, contracts management, onboarding, relationship management and development of program offerings. Accountabilities will include:

  • Manage the existing partnership portfolio and relationships and ensure all contract obligations are met and measurable results achieved
  • Identify and secure strategically aligned partnerships that deliver on program offerings for Jawun’s Indigenous partners, including pitching and presenting to potential partners
  • Develop presentation material required to develop new or existing partnership opportunities
  • In collaboration with the team, develop strategies and marketing campaigns to increase the participation of partners in the partnership programs
  • Work with General Manager Partner Engagement to develop and execute on agreed business initiatives across Partnership Tier programs, meeting targets by driving initiative development and assist with enablement of program offerings
  • Work with the Jawun’s team to deliver on Jawun Values.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in partnerships, business development or skills aligned role.
  • A variety of exceptional communication skills. You can build engaging slide decks, present to groups, negotiate contracts, and work with a wide range of people.
  • A passion for Indigenous led change. Any work experience in Indigenous affairs would be a distinct advantage.
  • A tertiary qualification may add credibility to your application but is not essential.

Other role requirements:

  • Must be able to travel interstate regularly for the role. Approximately (but not necessarily) x 6 annually usually 2-4 days in length. From time to time this is to remote locations and may involve flying in smaller planes and driving on unsealed roads.
  • Must be able to work from our Sydney CBD office twice a week – Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Candidates from locations other than Sydney will be considered if they can easily access interstate travel without undue expense to Jawun (i.e. those living in remote locations are not likely to be suitable for this role).
  • Candidates must have a Drivers licence and be able to attain a Working with Children check, if required.

The Jawun model is transferable and today we work with remote communities in Cape York Peninsula (QLD), the Pilbara, East and West Kimberley (WA), Central Australia (NT, WA, SA) and Northeast Arnhem Land (NT), regional communities of Goulburn-Murray (VIC), Central Coast (NSW), Lower River Murray (LRM) and Far West Coast (FWC), the urban communities of Inner Sydney (NSW) and South West Australia (WA).
