Are you a passionate and experienced Diversional Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older Australians? The Burger Centre, a vibrant and inclusive community centre for seniors, is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our team.
About Us:
The Burger Centre provides centre-based programs under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) for individuals aged 65 and over. Our programs, including specialised dementia care and wellness initiatives, focus on enhancing social connections, engagement, and overall well-being. Operating under Jewish values, we celebrate Jewish festivals and significant Australian occasions
About the Role:
- As a Diversional Therapist, you will play a crucial role in creating and leading stimulating small-group activities for our clients, including those living with dementia. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and conducting engaging programs such as discussion groups, exercise, craft, music, reminiscence therapy, and outings.

Encouraging participation and providing individualised support to clients.

Monitoring client needs, ensuring safety, and reporting changes in conditions.

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality services.
About You:
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications in Diversional Therapy / Certificate IV in Leisure & Health / Arts / Music / Drama / Aged Care.
- Experience in program planning and facilitation for older adults, particularly those with dementia.
- Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and understanding of cognitive impairments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, social media, and client management systems).
Desirable Criteria:
- Ability to drive MR vehicles (or willingness to obtain a license).
- Awareness of Jewish culture and values, including Holocaust survivor experiences.
- Bilingual in a community language.
