About you

We are looking for a compassionate and client-focused professional with a strong understanding of financial counselling principles and commitment to supporting individuals experiencing financial hardship.

Naturally, you are skilled at offering tailored guidance to help members of the Jewish community navigate financial challenges and work towards stability. Your ability to engage with vulnerable clients, assess complex financial situations and negotiate with creditors enables you to make a meaningful impact.

About the role:

• Provide financial counselling and support, helping clients navigate financial hardship, debt management and budgeting strategies
• Liaise with creditors, banks, utility providers and community organisations to advocate for clients
• Maintain accurate records, case notes and reports in line with regulatory and funding requirements
• Empower clients by providing education on budgeting, consumer rights and available hardship programs
• Manage appointments, referrals and casework while staying up to date with industry regulations and financial support services

Skills and Experience:

• Diploma of Financial Counselling and/or experience supporting individuals in financial distress, ideally within community services or the not-for-profit sector
• Strong financial counselling, case management and advocacy skills, with the ability to assess and provide tailored financial advice
• Understanding of credit and debt legislation, hardship policies, consumer protection laws and financial rights
• Ability to use case management software, Microsoft Office suite and interpret financial regulations and hardship provisions
• Membership with Financial Counselling Victoria (FCVic) or Financial Counselling Australia (FCA) is required

• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Victorian Working With Children Check
• Valid Driver's Licence
• Unrestricted right to work in Australia
