For over 75 years, the Natural Resources Conservation League (NRCL) has been actively promoting the sustainable management of Victoria’s natural resources. We have always had a practical focus, seeking to promote change through education, partnering and promoting community engagement in revegetation.

NRCL established the Natural Resources Conservation Trust (NRCT) in 2019 and provided a significant corpus that enabled NRCT to commence grant making in 2023. This exciting philanthropic organisation aims to be a significant partner, supporting and building the capacity of community based conservation, landcare and natural resource management networks.

NRCL and NRCT work closely together, guided by separate Boards.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a skills based board with a deep commitment to the organisation’s purpose, values and long term objectives. Incoming directors are expected to share this same passion and interest bringing their own knowledge of natural resource management and conservation.

We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals from a breadth of professional and personal diverse backgrounds.

Capabilities/skills/ experience sought include:

• Relevant fields such as natural resources management, carbon drawdown and water conservation and management
• Relevant stakeholder engagement and networks
• Strategic and business planning
• Financial management and investments
• Philanthropy, grant making and fund raising
• Professional backgrounds in relevant fields
• Entrepreneurship
• Research and advocacy

NRCT is keen to hear from experienced board directors as well as emerging talent. Reflecting the communities it supports, interest is encouraged from women, young people, indigenous people, people from multicultural backgrounds, people with a disability, and rural and regional Victorians.

Relevant professional development in contemporary governance and best practice corporate principles will be well regarded.

Typically, there are five board meetings a year along with committee commitments. The position is estimated to require a commitment of around 1-2 days a month on average. The roles are honorary.
