As part of our commitment to offering inclusive services, we seek a compassionate and skilled Bilingual Support Worker fluent in both Arabic and English.
Role Overview:
As a Bilingual Support Worker, you will provide essential support to our clients, ensuring their well-being, safety, and dignity. Your responsibilities will include assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Additionally, you will provide transportation, companionship, and help with community activities that the care recipient may be unable to participate in due to fragility or other limitations.
You will specifically assist Arabic-speaking individuals in accessing services, understanding processes, and navigating daily challenges. Your role will involve a combination of direct support, administrative tasks, and empowering clients through language and cultural understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and assistance to Arabic-speaking clients, ensuring they have access to necessary services and resources.
- Act as a translator or interpreter when necessary, facilitating communication between clients and service providers in Arabic and English.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as filling out forms, interpreting documents, and guiding clients through processes.
- Offer emotional support and guidance, providing reassurance and a listening ear for clients facing challenges.
- Help clients navigate social services, healthcare, housing, and other essential community services.
- Promote independence by assisting with budgeting, shopping, and making appointments.
- Maintain accurate client interactions and progress records, handling confidential information appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Experience in a support worker or care-giving role (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of cultural sensitivities and the needs of Arabic-speaking communities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and documentation.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY

- Queensland Driver's Licence and clear driving history.
- Use of own roadworthy, registered and insured car during hours of duty
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003), including CPR, has been current within 12 months.

- Adhere to relevant Disability Services Metro policies and NDIS quality and safeguards commission legislation to understand and activate your role in preventing, detecting, responding to, and reporting suspicions of child abuse to the relevant authorities.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS AND PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS
The pre-employment screening will apply to all appointments. Before a formal letter of offer, preferred applicants will be asked to provide:
- Evidence of mandatory qualifications/registrations/licences,
- Sufficient proof of their right to work in Australia and their identity.
- Complete and current a National Police Check
- Current International police check if the applicant has been residing overseas over the last ten years
