Position Snapshot

  • Salary range - $97,377.28 - $101,783.76 Level 5 SCHADS Award 2010 + Superannuation (pay point dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Full time (1.0 FTE) ongoing position – working Monday to Friday however, we have hybrid arrangements with two days in the office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
  • The position is based in Melbourne CBD
  • Generous not-for-profit salary packaging and annual leave loading is available

Position overview

In this vital role, you will play a key part in gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data sets, with a particular emphasis on the Arc program. Your insights will help shape reports for our Client Services initiatives and contribute to addressing data-related challenges.

You'll be responsible for sharing your findings with management, funding bodies, and other stakeholders in a way that fosters understanding and collaboration. Additionally, you will assist in crafting research methodologies and survey designs aimed at effective monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that our programs continue to meet the needs of those we serve.

Founded in 1872, we are Victoria’s oldest and only specialised criminal justice reintegration service. We provide reintegration, family, and employment support that enables people to create new beginnings for themselves and their families.

The opportunity

In this role you will:

  • Act as Vacro’s technical systems liaison with Infoxchange, as well as maintaining the Case Management system
  • Support the Strategic Research & Evaluation Designer with survey design, as well as supporting staff with quantitative and qualitative data collection
  • Perform analysis to assess data quality and meaning, including extraction, cleansing and joining data
  • Support Continuous improvement activities
  • Understand organisation-wide reporting requirements and data sources to contribute to reports
  • Produce, and present accurate reports for management or stakeholders
  • Participate and contribute to partner stakeholder meetings
  • Respond to external data requests
  • Liaise with Program Managers and staff
  • Liaise with contract providers to ensure Vacro priorities are responded to

Key selection criteria

  • Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in social science or related area
  • Advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with at least one statistics package (e.g. Power BI, R, Python)
  • Understanding of social science methodologies and methods, including survey design
  • Understanding of social science program evaluation and social impact measurement, including program logics and practice frameworks
  • Proven experience in data collection, retrieval, cleansing & reporting
  • Creating and maintaining databases
  • Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders
  • Ability to synthesise, analyse and describe insights from data
  • Strong reporting capability, including against KPI’s
  • Possess a systematic and creative ability to problem solve
  • Strong organisational and record maintenance skills
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills, including production of descriptive statistics, data visualisation and multivariate analysis
  • Demonstrated capacity to work across Microsoft suite of products and customised databases
  • Ability to confidently engage non-technical staff to understand benefits of data collection
