The North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance Ltd (NAILSMA)
NAILSMA is an Indigenous-led not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering Indigenous people to sustainably manage their lands and seas across Northern Australia.
Recognised as a leader in Indigenous policy and environmental management, NAILSMA has successfully delivered over $30 million in projects, partnering with governments, businesses, and Indigenous communities. With work spanning over water and marine policy, carbon initiatives, livelihoods, and youth leadership, all guided by our philosophy of Looking after our country… our way.
Through innovation, collaboration, and cultural values, we aim to create a future where Indigenous knowledge and leadership are central to environmental, economic, and resource management policies.
NAILSMA strongly encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to express interest in joining the team.
As the Communications Manager at NAILSMA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering innovative communication strategies that amplify Indigenous voices and showcase NAILSMA’s leadership in land and sea management.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead a talented team to craft compelling narratives, manage media engagement, and build partnerships with key stakeholders, including government, Traditional Owners, and Indigenous organisations. You will oversee high-impact campaigns, promote NAILSMA’s initiatives, and ensure First Nations perspectives are integrated across all communications.
This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change, influence national policy conversations, and contribute to the sustainable future of northern Australia.
You are a passionate and experienced communications professional with a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives. With a proven track record in developing and executing impactful communication strategies, you excel at crafting narratives that resonate across diverse audiences.
Your strong leadership skills empower you to guide teams and manage complex projects, while your ability to build and nurture relationships ensures successful collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
If you thrive in dynamic environments, have a commitment to amplifying Indigenous voices, and are ready to make a real difference, we want to hear from you.
