The ORGANISATION

The Bidwern Butj Uni is a partnership between Warddeken Land Management and Mimal Land Management, dedicated to supporting the people and landowners of West and Central Arnhem Land by delivering benefits to Country and culture.

Warddeken and Mimal lead holistic ranger programs, including highly valued women’s ranger teams, focusing on savanna burning, biodiversity conservation, native species monitoring, invasive species control, and intergenerational knowledge sharing.

The Bidwern Butj Uni addresses gaps in training by delivering fit-for-purpose professional development that empowers Bininj staff to progress from ranger roles to senior leadership positions. Backed by a five-year funding commitment, this Bininj-led initiative is trialling innovative approaches to adult education and ranger training, setting a benchmark for on-Country learning.

Supported by the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, the Uni delivers tailored Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Skills training to enhance job readiness, further education opportunities, and community engagement.

The Opportunity

The SEE Training & Development Facilitator will work closely with the SEE Program Coordinator, Bidwern Butj Uni, SEE Project teams, and project partners to deliver impactful training across Mimal and Warddeken Land Management. This role focuses on scheduling, delivering, and evaluating Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Skills training to support participants' personal and professional growth.

As well as:

  • Co-design and implement a three-year training project across Arnhem Land.
  • Manage the scheduling and delivery of tailored training packages.
  • Provide quality documentation, reporting, and project evaluation.
  • Spend one week per month in Arnhem Land, with office work from Darwin for the remainder.

About You

Essential:

  • TAE40110 or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Knowledge of Digital Literacy Skills Framework, Non-Accredited Training Framework, and Australian Core Skills Framework
  • Experience delivering face to face training
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Current manual driver’s license and off-road driving experience
  • Ochre Card or ability to obtain

Desirable:

  • 3+ years of experience in training design, delivery, and evaluation
  • Experience working in Arnhem Land and strengths-based community-led projects
  • Knowledge of Asset-Based Community Development principles

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel to Mimal and Warddeken Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA).
