Jesuit Refugee Service Australia is seeking a Fundraising and Operations Coordinator to join our Strategy and Operations Team. This part-time position will commence in mid-April 2025 until 17 December 2025 with the possibility of extension pending additional funding.

Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. JRS works in situations of greatest need, where people are most vulnerable, where there are gaps in services and where partnerships can be formed to better serve people seeking safety.

In Australia, JRS works to uphold the rights of people who are in the process of seeking asylum and aims to support people to empower themselves, to live meaningful and dignified lives while feeling welcomed and connected to a more fair and just community.

JRS Australia operates from Head Office, as well as from the dedicated JRS Women’s Space both located in Parramatta.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fundraising & Operations Coordinator supports JRS Australia’s sustainability and impact by driving fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and operational efficiency. This role ensures the effective management of fundraising campaigns, stakeholder relationships, and internal processes to secure financial and practical support for refugees and people seeking asylum.

  • Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Implement fundraising strategy, track key metrics, and cultivate donor relationships.
  • Campaign Coordination: Lead major fundraising appeals (Easter, EOFY, Christmas) and grant applications.
  • Operational Support: Ensure compliance with funding agreements, manage invoicing, and support internal policies.
  • Marketing & Communications: Develop promotional materials and presentations to enhance visibility and fundraising efforts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary contact for donations and funding partnerships.
  • Salesforce Administration: Maintain donor database, generate reports, and train staff on effective use.
  • Team Collaboration: Lead volunteers and work across teams to align fundraising with JRS Australia's mission.

Selection Criteria

Essential requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a not-for-profit organisation, ideally within refugee or asylum-seeker services.
  • Fundraising experience including creating marketing materials and leading the development of successful fundraising campaigns
  • Proven experience in philanthropy, fundraising, or donor engagement. 
  • Experience managing donor databases (e.g. Salesforce) ensuring accurate reporting and insights for fundraising and operations.
  • Strong background in operations, including invoicing, account management, and compliance.
  • Exceptional presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to communicate to specific audiences, including the Catholic community.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, Catholic networks, and team members.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Commitment to human rights, gender equality, non-discrimination and social change
  • Commitment to working within current Equal Employment opportunities (EEO), Work Health and Safety (WH&S), and child protection legislation.
  • A current NSW Police record check and NSW working with children check or willingness to undertake one.

The Fundraising and Operations Coordinator will report to the Head of Strategy and Operational Sustainability and collaborate closely with internal staff and volunteers to drive effective community engagement, fundraising initiatives, and operational efficiency.

Desirable:

  • A good understanding of issues concerning people seeking asylum and refugees.
  • Strong networks with Catholic communities, organisations, and leaders.
  • Experienced design skills with use of Adobe suite, Microsoft Office.

Award

  • SCHADS Level 5.1
  • This is a part-time 0.8 FTE position to 19 December 2025 with possibility of extension dependant on funding.
