Child, Youth and Family Position:
You will provide early help & support for children, young people, their families and communities.
- Develop Community Connections activity and programs that engage the community, involve sector planning, sector coordination, provide education and skills development, information and referral and encourage social participation.
- Provide a Community Hub for the community to engage in programs and activities, education and skills development, information, referral and advice and take part in social participation.
- Provide Community Support through advocacy and support, education and skills development, information and referral and social participation.
- Provide Targeted Support to families and children through programs and activities, inclusive of supported playgroups and parenting programs.
- Provide information, advice and referrals for young people and their families. Effective and timely communication to facilitate client engagement, build and maintain referral pathways and partnerships, and proactively help young people and their families to easily access services and determine their own support pathways.
- Advocateand Support to advance the interests of the children, young people, families and the community through liaison, networking and as a representative of Karabi Community & Development Services on committees and through interagency meetings and forums.
- Aboriginal Children, Families and Communities Actively engage and provide support by facilitating Aboriginal identified activities to promote social participation and healing through the development of greater connections to Aboriginal culture, language and traditions. This could include social, cultural, recreational, youth, art or language activities / workshops or linking up members of a community around a shared issue, memorial days, or reconciliation activities.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary degree or diploma in Social Work, Youth Work, or Community Studies.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in child, youth and family community service provision.
- Understanding of NSW State Government Funded Programs:
- Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Targeted Early Intervention Program.
- Experience working within NSW Targeted Early Intervention Programs or similar frameworks.
- Project Management Skills:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in person-centred, strength-based and trauma-informed child, youth and family community development practices.
- Proven experience in managing community activities and programs, including project design, implementation, budgeting, evaluation and reporting, with strong computer proficiency.
- Skills in designing, implementing, budgeting, evaluating and reporting on community programs.
- Stakeholder Relationship Development:
- Ability to develop and foster relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Effective collaboration with people of various ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds.
- Education Program Facilitation:
- Experience and skills in organising education and skill development programs for young people.
- Experience in delivering educational content or workshops to young people or community members.
- Communication Skills:
- High-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in report writing, presentation and grant writing.
- Cultural Competency:
- Knowledge of and experience working with diverse cultural communities,
- A deep understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities.
- First Aid Certification:
- A First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Driver’s License:
- A current driver’s license and a comprehensively insured car.
DESIRABLE
- Additional Certifications:
- Holding qualifications or certifications in youth work, Child Protection, playgroup or parenting program.
- Experience with Vulnerable Groups:
- Experience working with vulnerable children or young people in areas such as mental health, family resolution or juvenile justice
- Advanced Project Management Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing larger-scale projects or programs, with a proven record of securing funding or partnerships.
- Grant Writing and Fundraising:
- Experience in grant writing, fundraising, or managing funded programs to support community-based initiatives.
- Additional Language Skills:
- Fluency in any other languages, especially those spoken by local communities.
- Professional Development:
- Evidence of ongoing professional development or involvement in relevant training and learning initiatives within the community or youth sectors.
