Adult Autism Services by Giant Steps (AASGS) is an NDIS approved centre and community-based program for adults with autism. AASGS employs a fresh perspective for our participants, integrating a multi-disciplinary model and person-centered (PCP) approach.
Our participants have the opportunity to be a part of a wide range of programs designed to promote self-determination and independence. The typical day includes a combination of onsite and offsite activities, tailored to the individual using PCP principles.

Position Overview
The Team Leader's primary role is to guide, mentor, and support a dedicated team of support workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support to our participants and their families.
In this role, you'll not only oversee and guide the team but also work alongside them to directly support participants, fostering an environment where each individual's unique needs and strengths are prioritized.
The role requires strong skills and experience in coaching and mentoring team members, a proven ability to empower others, and exceptional resilience to effectively navigate challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Timetabling
- Prepare and manage the weekly staff timetable, ensuring that staff assignments and vehicle logistics are aligned with participants' needs. Adapt to changes as they arise and ensure that person-centred goals are consistently supported.
Programming
- Oversee the development and implementation of program goals with a strong focus on person-centred planning. Implement new programs, facilitate feedback and new ideas, and equip staff with necessary tools and information.
Leadership, coaching and development of team members
- Guide and support your team through regular meetings, professional development, and performance evaluations. Monitor staff well-being, reporting any concerns promptly, and ensure professional standards are maintained, including the effective onboarding of new staff.
Supporting Participants
- Provide direct support to participants in their daily activities and personal care, promoting their dignity, independence, and well-being, while assisting participants to achieve their personal goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage communications with parents and external stakeholders regarding absences, incidents, and changes. Lead and organize person-centred planning meetings, MDT meetings, and NCAT order meetings. Collaborate with allied health teams on assessments, reports, and NDIS goal development, and represent the organiSation in RPA panels.
Requirements
- Proven ability to engage, motivate, train and mentor team members.
- Provide quality participant focused services, and planning and delivering support as per participant goals.
- Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to manage and nurture key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional resilience is essential to navigate the diverse challenges and dynamic environment of the role, ensuring consistent, high-quality care and leadership.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- A current NDIS Screening Worker Check.
- A valid Australian driver’s license.
