Kew Neighbourhood Learning Centre (KNLC) is a not-for-profit organisation providing socially inclusive educational, recreational, health and wellbeing and social support opportunities for our local community. Our range of core programs include but are not limited to Children’s services, Social Support groups (HACC, CHSP, NDIS), Education (Pre-accredited), Social Enterprise initiatives and health and fitness.
In addition to core programs, we create spaces for people to realise their potential, by addressing key social, economic and cultural barriers and find creative approaches to break these down.
This role is pivotal in the revitalisation and expansion of KNLC's Children's services programs. You will be the driving force behind the introduction of new programs and connecting children and families to the broader activities and programs on offer at KNLC. You will include families and carers into conversations about the childcare and their vision for the program. You will connect to the local community and draw in programs that connect things such as art or music to enhance children's experiences. You will explore the environment and ensure that through play and exploration our children can connect to the world around them. Ultimately, your own approach and curiosity will steer the program.
Ideally you will have worked in a coordination and community development role in children's services. You see and understand the importance of childcare as a place that embraces children and family and makes them part of a broader community. You engage in a way that is creative, and you are able to think outside the box to spark curiosity in children and families alike. You see the benefit of a childcare program and its connection to a community learning centre as a way to explore the world broadly.
Ideally you will have a Diploma in Children's services or working towards it. Experience is important but so is a genuine interest in children and people and the role education plays in exploring new pathways that breakdown set barriers to lifelong curiosity and learning.
You need to have a positive attitude and an ability to see challenge as opportunity.
