Kevin Heinze GROW

We’re looking to appoint an experienced, understanding Disability Support Senior Trainer who uses person-centred and strengths-based approaches to work with people of all abilities. The role involves training and supporting Kevin Heinze Grow participants within our Café Kevin program.

ABOUT US

Kevin Heinze Grow (KHG) has been operating for over four decades supporting people of all abilities with the principles of therapeutic horticulture. We deliver evidence-based programs and services in the peaceful, natural environment of a garden setting. Participants primarily work outdoors alongside our highly qualified multidisciplinary team of staff, developing confidence and resilience while engaging in meaningful activities.

KHG closely aligns with a social model of disability and see our role as supporting people as best we can to navigate their lives and the way they wish to engage with others.

One of our prevocational educational programs is Café Kevin, the aim of the program is to work with small groups of participants training them in aspects of café operations, customer service and business administration whilst creating meaningful opportunities for the local community to engage with the café program.

Café Kevin is set within our nursery which provides a peaceful nature based setting. Our café is operational from 10am -1:30pm, which allows for lots of preparation and learning without customer interactions. Our Café currently services the KHG community, neighbouring Men’s Shed and a small but increasing amount of patronage from the broader community. It’s a lovely flexible and gentle environment in comparison to a bustling café.
