Your new role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative therapeutic program within the community?
As a Clinical Practitioner, you will provide specialist therapeutic services to children and young people up to age 18 who have been sexually abused, as well as children up to 18 who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours. The role also involves taking part in prevention initiatives such as training to parents, teachers and the wider community as required, this includes delivering school-based prevention programs to young people with topics relating to sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and healthy sexual relationships.
Although no two days are the same, you can expect to:
- Provide counselling/advocacy skills with children who have been a victim of sexual abuse or present with harmful sexualised behaviours and their families.
- Deliver single session consultations for the carers of young people.
- Develop a comprehensive Therapeutic Assessment Report (TAR) that drives effective interventions.
- Actively participate in regular case review processes and complete closures in line with Kids First standards.
- Co- facilitate school-based prevention programs, promoting awareness and education as required.
About you
- Hold a tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or a related discipline. Postgraduate study desired.
- Experience in delivering therapeutic services that include counselling, various trauma reprocessing modalities such as EMDR, EFT and advocacy to young people and their families.
- Knowledge of the impacts of trauma, attachment, and family relationships on childhood development.
- Risk management with therapeutic trauma-informed practice with young people who use unsafe behaviours.
- Ability to identify risk/safety issues and respond effectively in whole of family and strength-based manner.
- Willingness to deliver Prevention Groupwork to young people, parent, teachers and wider community on a range of topics.
- Highly developed written, verbal and communication and organisational skills.
- Desirable - experience working with young people who have been a victim of sexual abuse or who are displaying harmful sexual behaviour.
