KidsXpress is a specialist children’s mental health organisation delivering trauma informed, culturally responsive Expressive Therapy and Education Services to children under the age of 12 yrs, their caregivers, and school communities. As leaders in the use of expressive arts therapies (art, music, drama, dance-movement, and play therapy) our clinicians support children towards restored socio-emotional health and wellbeing, while our Trauma-Informed consultancy services work with adults to build confidence and capacity to recognise and respond to children impacted by and living with trauma.

KidsXpress is looking for a motivated and highly-organised individual to join our team 3 days a week. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing funding opportunities to support our services and programs. You will lead the preparation and submission of high-quality grant applications and tenders, ensuring alignment with our strategic priorities and the needs of the communities we serve. This is a rewarding and varied role with an organisation that has care and creativity at it’s core!

This role reports into the CEO and will work closely with the Executive Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grant and Tender Management: Research, identify, and apply for appropriate grant and tender opportunities from government, corporate, philanthropic, and community sources.
  • Proposal Writing: Develop compelling, data-driven proposals, ensuring compliance with application requirements and alignment with the mission and objectives of KidsXpress.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with potential funders and stakeholders, including government bodies, philanthropic organisations, and corporate partners.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Ensure all funding agreements are managed effectively, including meeting reporting deadlines, compliance with grant requirements, and budget management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the program and finance teams to align funding opportunities with operational capacity and strategic priorities.

Essential criteria

  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Extensive experience with grant and tender writing for the charity and government sectors
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritise work and resources
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to interpret data and financial budgets for grant and acquittal purposes
  • Desktop publishing skills for designing effective proposals (desirable)
  • Experience with Salesforce (desirable)

Prior to commencement of employment, you will also need to provide a WWCC number as evidence of Working with Children Check and National Police history Check.
